Straightening the library today I came upon a board book which was made by the powerhouse graphic novel duo, Jennifer and Matthew Holm. It’s called I’m Sunny! and is a pure delight. More than just an intro to comic books, this little board book is sturdy enough for repeat reads and rough handling, and just the right size for toddler hands. Told in traditional comic frames it can help teach kids to read pictures.
The simple drawings and primary colors bring this sweet but simple story to life and older readers can try their own hand at drawing the characters. In this story Sunny catches a balloon. Meanwhile, a tornado passes by and wants to share the balloon. Will Sunny share? Will he and Tizzy become friends?
