“Where’d You Go Bernadette” and “The Goldfinch”: Coming Soon to a Theater Near You!

Plenty of best-selling and beloved novels will be coming out as feature films this year but two that I am particularly anticipating are:

Where’d You Go, Bernadette is the story of an anxiety-riddled mom who becomes overwhelmed by the day to day choices in life and runs away. Her 15-year-old daughter is left to try to find out where she has gone and why she has left. In the process, she uncovers more about her mother than she ever could’ve imagined. Directed by Richard Linklater (Boyhood)and is starring the powerhouse cast of Cate Blanchett, Kristen Wiig, Judy Greer, Laurence Fishburne and Billy Crudup this promises to be a film that teens and adults will enjoy. It is currently slated for an August release.

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt is an epic novel about a young boy whose life is changed forever after surviving a bomb attack at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The story sweeps through his life and has many unpredictable twists and brushes with crime, while the Goldfinch painting keeps swirling through his life. Starring Sarah Paulson, Nicole Kidman, Jeffrey Wright, Ansel Egort and Luke Wilson, this picture will be directed by John Crowley (Brooklyn, True Detective). The Goldfinch is currently slated for an October release which likely means that the production company believes it to be worthy of Oscar consideration.

Ansel Egort as Theodore Decker
Jeffrey Wright as Hobie
