“Don’t Eat Me Chupacabra!” is A Must Have Board Book

Don’t Eat Me Chupacabra! by Derek Sullivan and Kyle Sullivan describes itself as, “A delicious story with digestible Spanish vocabulary.” I describe it as an exceptional board book for kids who want to read something different.

chupacabra 2

Chupacabra only wants to eat goats, but the goat and his friends don’t want him to be eaten. They go to their wise grandparents for advice and the grandparents come up with a solution that makes everyone happy. The text makes for a perfect read aloud as it is expressive and reflects the personalities of the characters. The book is in English and Spanish so it’s a perfect tool to introduce kids to a few new words, and can be used by people who speak either language. The illustrations are awesome, at once cute and funny, rich and witty. From the first page with a beautiful scenic background to the final page with a luxurious picnic, kids will enjoy noticing all of the extra details in the illustrations. This book has it all!
