The Yasmin Books Combine Vibrant Illustrations with a Spunky Pakistani Girl to Make a Winning New Early Reader Series

Yasmin is full of energy, imagination, and creativity. She explores her community, discovers her inner artist, builds her dream town, designs her own clothes and never gives up when she meets an obstacle. Yasmin asks herself questions when she is making choices and kids will be impressed with her unexpected solutions.

Yasmin

Yasmin is a second grader from a Pakistani American family. Although she is just like any other kid it will be refreshing for fellow Pakistani kids to see someone who looks and speaks like them. There are some Urdu words in the books with an abbreviated dictionary. Author Saadi Faruqi also includes a page encouraging readers to think about, feelings, ideas, and games. It also includes some facts on Pakistan and a drink recipe and craft.

One can’t speak of these titles without recognizing the stand-out art by Hatem Aly. Yasmin has huge beautiful eyes and the family and colors used throughout are styled in a way that feels both retro and contemporary, warm and timeless.

The book, Meet Yasmin! is a compilation of all of the titles, or they can be bought individually. If purchased individually they can be read in any order. The other titles released today include Yasmin the Explorer, Yasmin the Painter, Yasmin the Builder and Yasmin the Fashionista.

These stories are sure to please young readers. The fresh illustrations will bring kids back again and again to relive these adventures with Yasmin.
