Birdie and Anya both want to be the butterfly in the school play about insects. The problem is, there can only be one butterfly. Anya insists on playing the butterfly and Birdie agrees to be the caterpillar.
Birdie has an alter ego, Crafty Cat, who helps her to craft with creativity and ease. Her crafting stands out due to her attention to detail, near professional use of glitter and her unique touches.
Anya is rude and selfish and right before the play begins gets herself in a position where the play could be ruined, without a butterfly there would be no finale. Thankfully Crafty Cat, like all superheroes, looks past Anya’s bad qualities and does what’s best for everyone.
This is the third book in the series and while they make an adorable set, they can be read independently or in any order. Charisse Mericle Harper also wrote the equally charming series of chapter books entitled Just Grace.
The Crafty Cat books are a fun, fast read that will spark the reader’s imagination, creativity, and inner hero. Each book includes patterns for some of the crafts that are featured in the book.
