“Blue Jasmine” by Woody Allen
This film has quite possibly Cate Blanchett’s best performance to date. Her range and humanity in the gut wrenching role is staggering.
Not to be outdone, Sally Hawkins plays her sister who is an opposite but just as complicated woman. You can’t keep your eyes off of her as she wobbles her way through life with her cute clothes and trusting personality.
There were plenty of great male performances too, but I literally “squeed” when Peter Sarsgaard came onscreen. Often cast with an evil side and villainous nature it was a decadent delight to watch him stand handsomely and confidently as a sophisticated single ambassador who becomes attracted to Cate Blanchett’s character.
